About BWK

A Bhutanese conversation platform rooted in story, identity, and shared purpose.

Brokshi With Kencho is the official digital home of a heartfelt Bhutanese talk show where stories are shared with warmth, dignity, and a deep sense of community.

From Canberra, BWK brings together honest conversations about coming to Australia, building a life away from home, preserving culture, and staying connected to one another across generations and borders.

Stories shared over tea can become bridges between people, places, and generations.

Our Background

How BWK began

Brokshi With Kencho (BWK), a Bhutanese community talk show based in Canberra, Australia, traces its origin to a profound moment during His Majesty The King of Bhutan’s Royal Visit to Australia in 2024.

During the Royal Address, His Majesty recognised the sacrifices Bhutanese people make in leaving home to seek better opportunities abroad, while also sharing a hopeful vision for Bhutan’s future through Gelephu Mindfulness City. That message of learning, earning, and one day bringing knowledge and experience back to help build Bhutan left a lasting impression on many Bhutanese hearts.

For Kencho Tempa, that moment became the quiet seed of a larger vision. Nurtured by devotion to the King, love for the country, and faith in the Bhutanese community, it gradually grew into BWK: a platform where stories are shared over tea, wisdom is exchanged with humility, and conversations help connect Bhutanese across borders.

BWK is founded on the belief that every Bhutanese carries a story worth telling, a lesson worth sharing, and a responsibility to contribute to the future in meaningful ways. It offers a respectful and inclusive space where people can reflect on their journeys, speak honestly about hardship, celebrate achievement, and share the values, knowledge, and experiences shaped by life in Australia.

Our Vision

A connected Bhutanese community, grounded in identity and inspired by purpose.

BWK envisions a thoughtful, welcoming platform that connects Bhutanese people across Australia and beyond through meaningful conversations, shared experience, and a continuing sense of responsibility to one another, to culture, and to Bhutan’s future.

Our Mission

Creating space for honest conversation, reflection, and belonging.

BWK’s mission is to create a respectful talk-show platform where Bhutanese voices can share their journeys to Australia, life experiences, struggles, achievements, and hopes with honesty, humility, and warmth.

To preserve and honour stories, language, identity, and cultural memory.
To encourage intergenerational learning and thoughtful community dialogue.
To highlight resilience, service, leadership, and contribution in everyday life.
To keep conversation rooted in dignity, empathy, and constructive reflection.
