In Episode 7, we sit down with Mr. Wangda Dorji, a former civil engineer and the first Bhutanese recipient of the Endeavour Scholarship, whose journey from a professional career in Bhutan to entrepreneurship in Australia is both inspiring and insightful.
After completing his scholarship, Mr. Wangda returned to Bhutan and served for another ten years before making the life changing decision to move to Australia. Arriving in Canberra in 2018, he began his entrepreneurial journey by establishing a “driving school”, before going on to open “the first Bhutanese grocery store in Canberra”.
Through his grocery store, he has helped bring a taste of home closer to the Bhutanese community by making Bhutanese food items and products more accessible. But his contribution extends well beyond business. Known for his openness, warmth and generous spirit, Mr. Wangda is also a committed member of the Bhutanese community in Canberra, always willing to step forward and support fellow Bhutanese whenever help is needed.
